If we are brutally honest with ourselves, the awkwardness of meeting some freaky church folks in a small group setting is probably one of the biggest deterrents for folks joining a Life Group. Right? What if the people are weird? What if I don't like any of them? What if their home smells weird? All are legit questions for sure.
But, as we kick-off Life Groups this Fall, y'all need to know the reality is that any or all of these situations might arise. The people might be weird, you might not like any of them, and their house might smell. Then your Life Group will be just one more awkward experience in life, and, well, you have those everyday right? So what's the issue with the risk of just one more awkward moment?BUT, it also might be much more than that. What if? What if it actually worked out for you? What if you actually really enjoyed the people in your Life Group, and what if you actually developed some friendships that totally changed your life?
Well, that is what actually happened with Ginger Lazzaro's Life Group. This past Spring, she took a chance at having an awkward moment, and ventured out into the world of small groups by starting a Co-ed 20s/30s Married & Single's group. This pic below is of some of them now six months later....
Pretty awesome, right? Most of them had never seen each other before, and here they are six months later celebrating the wedding of Don & Xin Hsiao (pic below). The coolest part of this story is that Xin moved to New Jersey from Singapore just two short months ago. Typically a daunting process, right? But not if you have a group of friends like this!
The Life Group rallied around Don & Xin, making sure that Xin felt like a part of the family from the start, and what a difference that has made.Folks, please know that we aren't trying to sucker you into joining a Life Group, but that what we really want to provide is an opportunity for each of you to grow in your relationship with God and others in such a way that your life will never be the same.
So, would you consider taking a risk, or even an awkward moment and join a Life Group this Fall? The worst thing that can happen is a good story to put on Facebook and the best thing would be gaining friends to share fun, struggles and faith. Not a big risk in my book... CLICK HERE TO SIGN-UP.
